My Wife and I Almost Didn’t Make It
Taking the road less traveled is tough. The toughest part is the toll it takes on your relationships. Especially with your spouse. When I started this journey in 2018, my wife got mad at me for doing the first podcast. She’d watched me lose all hope and sink into a deep depression. Yet here I was starting this podcast called “The Story of My Experiments With Hope.” But the truth is, hope was all I had back then. That and my dormant professional knowledge and skills. Since then, our marriage has been very hard at times. The love and the friendship has always been there. But it takes more than that to make a marriage work. Especially when you’re trying to build a business together.
At first, it wasn’t our plan to work on a mutual business. My wife was too depressed to work and I was too frustrated about it to be patient with her. But since 2019, we’ve come to realize that God put us on this path to get us to work as business partners. Today, we had our most productive discussion about the future of this business. But it’s been a damn hard time. The despair has been hard to overcome. At times, the only thing I could do was choose to live by my values instead of by my feelings. That’s something very few people ever learn to do, but it’s the only way to persist through adversity.
On another note, I finally found out what was causing my reactionary arthritis flareups. I haven’t had to get out my crutches for a few months. With a little help from a natural health consultant we know, my wife has helped me start a new eating and exercise plan. It’s been hard, and we almost didn’t make it. But sometimes you just have to keep going, even when all you have is hope. We’re now on track to make $60,000.00 this year, and we have a plan for taking this business to the next level. Stay tuned.
