VSL AD PROMPTS

PRIMER PROMPT:

In a moment, I'm going to give you a prompt for creating an ad. The ad will be promote a VSL for [AUDIENCE] who want [+BENEFIT/-PROBLEM] without [EXTERNAL OBJECTION], but who [INTERNAL OBJECTION].

The VSL will promote a [PRODUCT TYPE] that promises [PROMISE] in [TIMELINE] without [EXTERNAL OBJECTION] by [USP]. Don't create the ad yet. Wait for my next prompt.

MAIN PROMPT:

Use the above data to create an ad promoting a VSL. Write this ad to have four sections:

1. Attention: grab your audience's attention
2. Curiosity: turn their attention into curiosity
3. Action: call them to a specific and urgent action

Write the ATTENTION section like this:

Start the ad with a callout to the target audience.

Then, write three opening questions using the following two options:

OPTION #1 (Secrets OR Mistakes): 

1. Start the first question with "Are you looking for a [*SUPERSEVEN] (whichever of these words represents the best selling point for the offer) way to..." and make the question about them either solving the PROBLEM or achieving the BENEFIT without the EXTERNAL OBJECTION, then ad "...and are you..." to the end of the first question and finish the first question by asking the reader if they're tired of seeing other people achieve the result while the reader wonders what they're doing wrong. 
2. Start the second question with "Do you want..." [PROMISE×1-3] make the question about them achieving the BENEFIT so they can stop suffering the SYMPTOMS of the PROBLEM and finally achieve a bigger LIFESTYLE BENEFIT.
3. Start the third question with "Have you been wondering how..." and make the question about how other people like the AUDIENCE (only more advanced or successful) REALLY achieve the BENEFIT while the reader seems to be doing the same thing but still not seeing the result. 

OPTION #2 (Alternatives): 

1. Start the first question with "Are you tired of..." and make the question about the reader having the PROBLEM and either hoping that an ALTERNATIVE solution will solve it without without the EXTERNAL OBJECTION OR wondering why they still have the PROBLEM despite using the ALTERNATIVE solution and why they're also suffering the FLAW or CATCH that comes with the ALTERNATIVE. 
2. Start the second question with "Do you want..." [PROMISE×1-3] make the question about the reader having the PROBLEM and either hoping that an ALTERNATIVE solution will solve it without without the EXTERNAL OBJECTION OR wondering why they still have the PROBLEM despite using the ALTERNATIVE solution and why they're also suffering the FLAW or CATCH that comes with the ALTERNATIVE. 
3. Start the third question with "Have you been wondering how..." and make the question about the reader having the PROBLEM and either hoping that an ALTERNATIVE solution will solve it without without the EXTERNAL OBJECTION OR wondering why they still have the PROBLEM despite using the ALTERNATIVE solution and why they're also suffering the FLAW or CATCH that comes with the ALTERNATIVE. 

Write the CURIOSITY section like this:

Tell the read that the [VSL] [Reveals, Exposes, Discovers] the [Surprising, Jaw-Dropping, Mind-Boggling] truth about either the ALTERnATIVES, the PROMISE, or the PROBLEM and how/why (some) other members of the same audience either achieve the BENEFIT or solve the PROBLEM without the EXTERNAL OBJECTION and despite the INTERNAL OBJECTION.

OPTIONAL: Tell them that if they take the requested ACTION they'll [Discover, See, Realize, Know, Learn, Understand] why a statistic or study (scientific proof), proves how people like the reader REALLY achieve the BENEFIT and enjoy freedom from the PROBLEM, without the EXTERNAL OBJECTION, even if they have the INTERNAL OBJECTION.

Next, use a "Here's what you'll learn..." statement to introduce a list of bullet points describing what will be revealed in the VSL.

Use the following guidelines to create three versions of the following bullet points:

OPTION #1 (Secrets):

• Write a bullet that teases the first of three SECRETS to solving the PROBLEM and/or achieving the BENEFIT.
• Write a second bullet that teases the second of three SECRETS to solving the PROBLEM and/or achieving the BENEFIT.
• Write a third bullet that teases the third of three SECRETS to solving the PROBLEM and/or achieving the BENEFIT.
• Write a fourth bullet hinting at a connection between the above three SECRETS and how knowing it is the key to solving the PROBLEM and/or achieving the BENEFIT faster, easier, and with more lasting results.

OPTION#2 (Mistakes):

• Write a bullet that teases the first of three MISTAKES keeping the reader from solving the PROBLEM and/or achieving the BENEFIT.
• Write a second bullet that teases the second of three MISTAKES keeping the reader from solving the PROBLEM and/or achieving the BENEFIT.
• Write a third bullet that teases the third of three MISTAKES keeping the reader from solving the PROBLEM and/or achieving the BENEFIT.

OPTION#3 (Alternatives):

• Write a bullet that teases why the first of three ALTERNATIVE solutions to solving the is inefficient, dangerous, boring, or ineffective.
• Write a second bullet that teases the second of three ALTERNATIVE solutions to solving the is inefficient, dangerous, boring, or ineffective.
• Write a third bullet that teases the third of three ALTERNATIVE solutions to solving the is inefficient, dangerous, boring, or ineffective.

Use an emoticon for each bullet point. Then, follow up with a statement that tells who the VSL is for, and tie this to a PROMISE that the VSL will introduce. How the audience can achieve the PROMISE WITHOUT the CATCH they'd normally assume would come with it, and despite their INTERNAL DOUBT about their ability to solve the PROBLEM and enjoy the PROMISE.

Make the CATCH and the DOUBT something specific and concrete, and make sure they actually relate to the audience's top objections about the SOLUTION and whether it can work for them.

Write the ACTION section like this:

Use an "If___, then___" statement to recap the opening of the ad and connect the desired outcome to their decision to take the next action below.

Write a final Call to action that tells them EXACTLY what to do, reminds them of why to do it, and ads some urgency as to why they should do it right now. Use the words "right now," "hurry" or other phrases to emphasize this urgency.

Finish with a "PS:" statement that teases at a premium or bonus that they'll get for taking action right now. Add some urgency to this premium or bonus like a limited time or limited supply to ensure that they take action and get it now before it's gone forever.

VARIANT #1: Now create another version that opens with the call out, but skips directly to the "CURIOSITY" section of the ad.

EXAMPLE #1 (Physical Crisis):

Ethan lay alone in a pool of his own blood. Sirens wailed closer as he gazed at flashing red and blue lights above. He could taste the iron in his blood as it filled his mouth.

“So, this is how I’m going to die?” He thought.

Suddenly, Ethan pictured his family. The cheerful faces of his two young children, and his sweet wife, Melanie. They’d be running to greet him at the door by now.

“If I never see them again, it’ll be because of those punks,” he thought, recalling the fierce eyes and jeering grins of his attackers.

Little did Ethan know that his brush with death would lead him to discover a life-changing secret that would have put his attackers in the hospital that night instead of him. DESIRE: The Whistleblower discovers or decides on something they want to change. They are driven by a desire to gain something positive or get rid of something negative.

RESISTANCE: The Whistleblower encounters internal or external resistance to the change they want. In trying to overcome it, they stumble upon a clue that their failure was orchestrated by a person or organization with a hidden agenda (The Conspirator). The Whistleblower becomes obsessed with solving this mystery.

PERSECUTION: While investigating the mystery, the Whistleblower suffers a substantial series of threats and attacks that seem to be coming from the Conspirator. As these attacks become more severe and frequent, the Whistleblower discovers evidence that proves his original suspicions to be valid. 

DISCOVERY: The Whistleblower discovers that the Conspirators have a secret they’ve been trying to hide from him and from those they’re conspiring to deceive, oppress, or persecute. The Whistleblower quickly realizes that this secret is either the Conspirator’s biggest weakness, or the source of their power.

SUCCESS: The Whistleblower achieves a substantial series of wins that can only be attributed to the secret discovered at Stage #4. They are now driven by a desire to share this secret with others. The Conspirators catch the Whistleblower preparing to reveal the secret, and the Whistleblower barely escapes the encounter with his life.

CONTRIBUTION: After a brief period of hiding, the Whistleblower decides to share what they’ve learned with others. This part of the story becomes the transition to the offer as their contribution to the world. A brief Epilogue reveals that while the Whistleblower sometimes questions whether going public was worth the risk, they ultimately believe that it was the right thing to do.

DESIRE: The Student discovers or decides on something they want to change. They are driven by a desire to gain something positive or get rid of something negative.

RESISTANCE: The Student encounters internal or external resistance to the change they want. They are either in denial about it or trying to overcome it by sheer persistence.
