So Much for the Sacred

So sacred,
All these things I seek
That I think I need

Those changes,
I gave my life to make,
So I won’t be weak…

Finding my life,
Have I lost my soul?
What’s the sacrifice I’ve given?

So much for the sacred,
So much for the pain it’s caused me.
So much for the changes.
What does life mean,
If I can’t have you?

So sacred,
All these things I seek
That have weakened me.

So changeless,
Is the love you give
And the convenant you keep.

As time passes by, I can shed no years.
But night’s not so dark when dawn is near.

So much for the changes,
So much for the shame it wrought me.
So much for the sacred.
What does life mean,
If you can’t cry anymore?

So naked,
Without your grace
To shelter me.

So take this heart,
Make it one with you,
Show me what sacred means.

Now, I shine your light
As it fills my soul
Your love is the prize,
Now I’m saying

So much for the sacred,
So much for the pain it’s caused me.
So much for the change, yeah.
What does life mean,
When you can’t try anymore?

So much for the changes.
So much for the tainted story.
So much for the sacred.
What does life mean,
If I can’t have you?
